'Also, I don't mind her going back to being Spoiler. Spoiler is her own identity, not a hand me down one predicated on the approval of someone else.'
So you want Ms Brown to return to her postion of being an outsider instead of remaining one of the Bat family members? Why?

We could have continued this in the forum I originally posted the comment in, but... most superheroes aren't a part of the Batfamily. I like Steph in it, but it fed right into her need for validation. At some point she's got to grow beyond that and become a person in her own right, just as Dick needed to become Nightwing. There was never any reason Spoiler couldn't be accepted as a part of the family.

Which she has done as Batgirl - why go back to her originsl identity?

I like the way she's developed in her Batgirl run, but she doesn't own the mantle. (As editors have just proven.) Spoiler, on the other hand, is hers.
